Heritage Studies 4 takes your children through American history beginning with the Civil War and ending with World War II. They will then explore 6 regions of the United State, learning about the geography, culture, climate, and economics of each.

Math 4 uses a hands-on approach to help students learn more about multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, geometry, and prealgebra. Mrs. Brennan focuses on developing math skills so students can become good problem solvers.

Spelling 4 includes instruction about spelling patterns and roles, as well as the use of words in context. Thirty-two weekly spelling lists introduce children to a variety of syllable pattens, suffixes, and prefixes.

English 5 continues the grammatical study of sentences, nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, and reference skills. Handwriting 6 seeks to develop fine motor skills of students by providing handwriting instruction in a fresh new way. Students will fine-tune preexisting handwriting abilities, as well as receive special instruction in the art of calligraphy. By following the journey of “Penfellow,” a fictional scribe, students will review the alphabet in cursive letters, learn about different trades and professions, and develop their knowledge of God along the way.

Mrs. Bullock gives a brief overview of approximately 5,000 years of ancient history, beginning with creation. Each chapter will highlight the five features that characterize a civilization: organized cities and government, social classes, job specialization, arts, sciences, and written languages, and religion.

The goals of Math 6 are two-fold: For students to understand math so that they can become problem solvers, and for them to develop a Christian worldview. A variety of methods, ranging from concrete manipulatives to interactive questions to problem-solving skill development, are employed toward this goal.
